We are so excited to have Marissa Guijarro join Guide Us. She has over 25 years of experience as a high school counselor and has helped thousands of students through the college search and admission process. Throughout the college search and application process, Marissa helps students gain increased self-awareness and confidence by focusing on their strengths and unique qualities. She is a professional member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA) and has visited many colleges and universities in the U.S. and Europe. Most recently, she visited nine universities in Israel in January, further expanding her global perspective and first-hand knowledge of international higher education. For over a decade, she has been on the Long Island University faculty in the graduate counseling program.

Marissa has a Bachelor of Arts from Harvard University, a Master of Science in Education with a concentration in counseling along with a bilingual (Spanish) extension from Fordham University, and an Administrative Certificate in school district administration from Long Island University. Marissa has a distinguished record of leadership as a Past President of the New York State Association for College Admission Counseling (NYSACAC) and the Westchester-Putnam-Rockland Counseling Association (WPRCA). She also previously served as the volunteer chair for the Harvard College alumni interviewers in Rockland. Marissa is a frequent presenter at the local, state, and national level on topics related to college and career readiness, multicultural counseling, and mentoring.

In her spare time, Marissa enjoys going to cultural events in New York City, reading, sewing, ballet, and flamenco dancing. She and her husband live in Rockland, where they raised their two children
