Guiding Students with Learning Differences to College Admission
ADHD – Anxiety– Learning Issues
Students who have ADHD, anxiety or other learning issues have the opportunity to attend college. Each student is unique, learning in his or her own way, and the colleges recognize this. I have chosen to specialize as a college counselor for students with special needs so I can help them find the college of their dreams and be successful while they are there.
Understanding the Educational Challenges Students with Learning Differences Face
I have seen firsthand that academic success is reflected individually. As a licensed guidance counselor, I was an advocate for my students at many IEP and 504 meetings. As a parent, I understand how confusing the special needs process, and its accompanying documents, can be. During my 9 years in the school system, I became well versed in Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and 504 reports. In my private practice, I regularly interpret and guide families through the lengthy documentation. Clear and substantive interpretation of these documents is an important tool in finding appropriate college placement and positive transitioning from high school to a higher institution of learning.
Finding the Right College Fit Is Crucial to Future Success
Selecting the right college is important for any student, but it is a critical component of future success for students with learning differences. Finding the best fit for your child and putting them on a path to flourish academically is my priority. I take a holistic college counseling approach, spending time with students and families, learning about what their specific needs may be on a college campus. My view of students is inclusive – seeing their personal strengths and all they have to contribute as an individual. When I visit colleges, I schedule and speak with the support service staff so I can see first hand how the college can help students with special needs. I utilize this information to identify the colleges that will best suit your child.
A Helping Hand with the Entire Admissions Process
Finding the right schools is only the first step. I provide support throughout the college process – ensuring colleges receive all required documents, helping you evaluate acceptances, offering guidance on filing financial papers, selecting housing, and more. I know how overwhelming the process can be. To keep everyone on track and in the loop, my students and parents receive frequent texts or phone calls with important reminders and information. I strive to make the process exciting, rather than stressful.
There is a school for every child, no matter how they learn. I would be privileged to help counsel your child to college admissions success.

Debbie was enormously helpful in guiding both of our daughters through the entire college process. Not only did she keep them on a schedule that culminated in meeting early action deadlines by mid-October, but she also understood their interests, needs and ambitions, and was able to direct them both to the best colleges suited for them individually. Debbie was highly recommended to us by a friend and we, in turn, would not hesitate to recommend her. We are extremely grateful for her support, knowledge and interest in our girls' success.

I had asked a friend for a recommendation for a college advisor for my daughter and without any hesitation she immediately said Debbie Greenberg! Right from our first meeting I knew Debbie would be a perfect fit for our needs. She was very patient and well informed and answered all our questions throughly. She was always very accessible either through phone calls, emails, or texts whenever I thought of something else I needed to ask her! My daughter felt very comfortable working with her and she did an amazing job of keeping my daughter organized and on task (something I knew I couldn't do!) My daughter got into EVERY school she applied to and we have Debbie to thank for helping put the whole "package" together. I would wholeheartedly recommend Debbie to anyone I know just starting the college process.

I am the mother of five children…my fourth is on is way to Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY. People say to me, "You must be a pro at this by now!" My response to them is "I am not…but Deborah Greenberg is!!!" I wish all of you college-bound moms and seniors good luck, but more importantly, I wish you use Deborah Greenberg!!!

It was terrific having Debbie by our side to help navigate the college admissions process for our son. What might have been a daunting and stressful time for our family turned out to be a well organized, efficient, and thoughtful process. We plan to work with Debbie again in the future.

How can we possibly thank you for all that you’ve done for Jordan. From the first time we met at our consultation, your depth of knowledge, warmth, and professionalism quickly emerged. It was then, that you became “the chosen one” that we needed to get us through the application process.

I speak for both Adam and myself when I thank you! One of our best decisions was choosing you for Adam’s college advisor. You worked so well with him, helping him to choose the schools that would best fit him. Your assistance was invaluable in organizing his resume, working on his essay topics and preparing him for his Ivy League interview.

I just wanted to thank you again for the great work you did with my daughter Madelyn in identifying Colleges and Universities that “fit” her education needs, career interests and academic capabilities. As you know, she has gotten into her first choice and she is ecstatic.

I cannot thank you enough for everything you have done for me. This process would be a total wreck and no where near as accomplishing if it weren't for you. If everyone was fortunate enough to have you as their college advisor, they would ALL get into the college of their dreams.

Debbie Greenberg knows her stuff! We decided last minute to have our son apply to colleges after learning that there are schools that would accommodate his learning disability. We had no idea where to start. Debbie knew exactly which schools would be a good fit for our son.
Today I found that Stony Brook University in Long Island, New York had awarded me the Provostial Scholarship. This particular scholarship covers the entire tuition of Stony Brook University and leaves room and board and other fees up to the student and their families to pay. This scholarship amounts to $87,400, I am beyond excited for this potential opportunity and I can not help but thank Debbie Cinquemani for all of her help throughout this adventure. She helped guide me throughout the entire college process; ranging from advice about what schools I should look at to helping me step by step through the college essay writing process. The college process alone is a daunting task, however, with her guidance I felt confident in each and every step I took along the way and I am proud to say that she has helped me so much.

Debbie started working with our son when he was a sophomore in High School. We were so excited about the college application process but also so overwhelmed by it. Debbie calmed our nerves and helped us maintain an organized process. From choosing schools that fit to counseling our son during the essay process Debbie led the way with her guidance and expertise. In the end we looked and applied to many schools but we really wanted our son to get into his first choice. Thanks to Debbie and her commitment that is exactly what happened.
